Safety, Wellbeing and Teamwork Take Centre Stage at Dunelm Standdown Day
On 10 September 2026, the Dunelm Geotechnical & Environmental team came together for a company-wide Standdown Day, bringing colleagues from across the business together to focus on safety, wellbeing, learning and collaboration.
The day provided an opportunity to step away from normal day-to-day activities, introduce new initiatives and reinforce the safety practices that remain central to the way we work.
A varied programme of workshops and seminars covered a range of topics relevant to both our people and our operations. Sessions included mindfulness and counselling, alongside discussions around how we can develop effective safety campaigns that engage our teams and help maintain a positive safety culture across the business.
We were also pleased to welcome a number of external specialists who shared their knowledge and expertise with the team.
Pristine Condition International delivered a manual handling seminar, providing practical guidance around safer handling techniques and reducing the risk of workplace injuries.
DeterTech joined us to deliver a session on site security, highlighting important considerations for protecting sites, equipment and people.
Our new IT supplier, Twenty Four IT, also met with the team and delivered a seminar introducing its services and providing an opportunity for colleagues to learn more about the IT support available across the business.
Alongside the formal sessions, the Standdown Day was also about bringing people together. A BBQ lunch provided plenty of opportunity for colleagues from different parts of the business to catch up and spend time together away from their usual working environments.
The day concluded with an evening meal in Durham, rounding off a productive and enjoyable day.
Bringing the whole company together provides a valuable opportunity not only to reinforce good practice, but also to share ideas, learn from one another and strengthen relationships across the business.
Thank you to everyone who took part and to Pristine Condition International, DeterTech and Twenty Four IT for contributing to the day.
