Dunelm Achieves Verified Carbon Footprint as Foundation for Net Zero Strategy
Dunelm Geotechnical & Environmental is pleased to announce the completion and verification of its full carbon footprint for the 2023 calendar year, delivered in partnership with carbon consultancy specialists Auditel.
This significant milestone marks the first step in Dunelm’s long-term strategy to reduce emissions and work towards net zero. The carbon footprint was calculated and verified in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard and ISO 14064-3.
Key contributors included:
- Upstream Transport & Distribution (51.6%)
- Fuel Usage for Fleet and Plant (33%)
- Employee Commuting, Business Travel & Energy Use
James Huntington, Managing Director at Dunelm, commented: “We’ve always recognised our duty to operate sustainably and responsibly, and this verified footprint provides the evidence base to shape practical, meaningful reductions. With Auditel’s guidance, we are now developing a comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan.”
Ongoing reporting and continuous data improvement will be integral to the strategy, including plans to enhance Scope 3 visibility and supplier engagement.
Dunelm’s verified carbon footprint aligns with the UK’s Net Zero by 2050 ambition and reflects the company’s commitment to ethical operations, sustainable procurement, and environmental leadership across the geotechnical sector.
