Dunelm Embraces JN Bentley’s High Energy Hazards (HEH) Safety Initiative

At Dunelm Geotechnical & Environmental, safety remains our top priority – for our people, our clients, and everyone who interacts with our sites.

In line with this commitment, we are proud to have adopted JN Bentley’s new High Energy Hazards (HEH) safety initiative. HEH incidents are those with the potential to cause fatal or life-changing injuries. While JN Bentley has successfully reduced its overall injury frequency rate year on year, the rate of HEH incidents has remained steady – prompting this important new focus to drive it closer to, or beyond, zero.

Following a recent presentation from JN Bentley to their supply chain partners, Dunelm has taken proactive steps to embed this initiative into our own operations.

Two weeks ago, we held a Senior Management Briefing Day to introduce the initiative across our leadership team. This was followed by a dedicated HEH Training Day, held in Durham, attended by more than 50 employees from across the business – including site engineers, lead and assistant drillers, technicians, project managers, and contracts managers.

The session was led by Paul McMann, our UK and Overseas Operations Director, with opening remarks from senior management, and included interactive presentations, group discussions, and contributions from our site engineers. The high level of engagement, insight, and shared learning throughout the day reflected the strong culture of safety that runs through Dunelm at every level.

This initiative will now be integrated into our wider health and safety procedures and rolled out across all client projects.

By embracing the High Energy Hazards framework, Dunelm continues to build on its commitment to achieving the highest safety standards in everything we do, because every person has the right to go home safe, every day.
